COVID-19 DIRECTIVES BY AIRLINE/COUNTRIES

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

The UK Government has confirmed that from 0400 on 15 January 2021, all inbound passengers travelling to the United Kingdom will be required to present a negative Covid-19 test, taken up to 72 hours prior to departure.

You must take the test in the 3 days before the service on which you will arrive in England departs. For example, if you travel directly to the United Kingdom on Friday, you must take the test on the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

If you travel indirectly to United Kingdom, and the total journey takes more than a day, you must ensure that the test is taken no more than 3 days before you board the final service that takes you to England.

You must complete this form online before you arrive in the UK. You can submit the form any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK. (https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk)

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO THE UNITED STATES

 

As of January 26, 2021, the following additional Covid-19 regulations for all passengers aged 2 years and over on our flights to the United States are required by the order issued by the United States CDC units.

1-    All passengers have to submit a negative PCR (nucleic acid test) or antigen test with the sampling date maximum 3 calendar days before prior to the flight departure time OR Written or electronic documentation of a positive viral test result with a sampling date minimum 10 days or maximum 90 days ago prior to the flight departure time that confirms the passenger had a previous COVID-19 infection and a letter from a licensed health care provider or public health official stating the passenger is cleared to travel (documentation of recovery) at their origin station and their arrival to USA.

 

2-    Attestation Form: As per the rule set by the authority, all station officials must verify with the attestation form shared by the CDC that every passenger aged 2 years or older have a negative test result or document of recovery with the positive test result in accordance with the rules. In order to access the attestation form, click here. The form must be completed by the passenger for all passengers aged 2 and over, and the parent or other authorized person may fill the form on behalf of passengers between the ages of 2 and 17 or who can’t give consent on their behalf.  

 

3-     Test and Document Details: All test results can be in written or electronic form. Laboratory test result is required. Negative Test result documents must contain the following details: Information identifying the person (name, date of birth), type of viral test, sampling date of the test, name and contact information of the person / institution performing the testThe statement indicating that the test result is negative should be “NEGATIVE”, “SARS CoV-2 RNA NOT DETECTED”, “SARS CoV-2 ANTIGEN NOT DETECTED”, “COVID-19 NOT DETECTED”. Test results indicated as “Invalid” will be considered invalid. The positive viral test result documents of the passengers who have healed from the Covid-19 infection and will travel with a documentation of recovery from the relevant health authorities must contain the following details: Information identifying the person (name, surname, date of birth), type of viral test, sampling date of test, name and contact information of the institution. The positive test result should be in the form of “POSITIVE”, “SARS CoV-2 RNA DETECTED”, “SARS CoV-2 ANTIGEN DETECTED”, “COVID-19 DETECTED”. Test results indicated as “Invalid” will be considered invalid. However, on the document of recovery, the official’s name, address, telephone number and descriptive information such as the passenger’s name and date of birth must be included.

 

4-    Time Calculation For TestsIf the time between connections on the same ticket does not exceed 24 hours during the travel period of the passenger to the USA, sampling time of the test must be maximum 3 days ago for negative tests or 90 days ago for positive tests for passengers traveling with a documentation of recovery from the departure time of the flight at the origin point. However, if the trip to the USA is on a different ticket or the time between connecting flights exceeds 24 hours, the time calculation must be made according to the departure time of the Istanbul / USA flight. If the flight will be delayed for any reason, passengers whose test period exceeds 3 calendar days are not accepted to the flight.

Note: You cannot enter or transit the USA if you have been in the UK, Ireland, Schengen zone, Iran, Brazil, China, or (as of 30 January 2021) South Africa within the previous 14 days.

As directed by the UK government, Emirates will be suspending passenger services between Dubai and all our UK points –  Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Manchester, effective 1300hrs GMT on 29 January 2021 until further notice.

 

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO DUBAI

Effective 31 January 2021, all passengers arriving into Dubai from any point of origin must hold a negative PCR test certificate, for which the test must be taken no more than 72 hours prior to time of departure.

UAE nationals are exempt from the above, but will be required to take a PCR test on arrival at Dubai airport. 

Passengers arriving into Dubai from certain countries will be required to take another PCR test on arrival at DXB.

Passengers transiting through Dubai must ensure that they comply with the entry requirements of their respective destination country.

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO CANADA

COVID 19 testing requirements

 

Effective 7 January 2021, all international passengers from the age of 5 years and above who are travelling to Canada are required to complete a COVID‑19 PCR test 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure to Canada.

  • The test has to be completed by an authorized laboratory.
  • The 72 hour timeline is from the date the test is taken, and not when the result is issued.
  • The 72 hour timeline is applicable from the departure to Canada and not the first point of departure.

Exemption: Children who are four years of age or younger

 

Quarantine: A 2 weeks quarantine is required upon entry regardless of COVID‑19 negative test results.

Required forms: Effective 31 October 2020, all passengers must submit contact information on the ArriveCAN app or Government of Canada website, before travel. The ArriveCAN receipt (proof of digital submission) must be presented at check‑in.

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO FRANCE

COVID‑19 PCR testing:

Passengers must take a COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test (and not an antigenic) less than 72 hours before the flight and produce a negative test to be accepted at check‑in.

Quarantine rules:

All arriving passengers are required to self‑isolate for 7 days.

Travel eligibility:

Passengers will not be allowed into France except if they are:

  • French nationals, travelling with their spouse and children.
  • European Union nationals and nationals from Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, and the Vatican, whose primary residence is in France or are in transit through France to reach their country of origin or of primary residence, travelling with their spouse and children.
  • Nationals from the United Kingdom are not included as part of the exemptions.
  • Third country nationals originating from Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Thailand, and Singapore if only transiting through Dubai. However, they must present two boarding passes as proof that they did not stopover in Dubai.
  • Third country nationals, who are holders of a French or European residence permit or valid long stay visa, with primary residence in France, or in transit through France to their residence in the European Union or its assimilated countries.
  • Third country nationals, in transit for less than 24 hours in an international zone.
  • Holders of an official passport
  • Foreign nationals employed by diplomatic or consular organisms or international organisations whose headquarters or offices are located in France as well as their spouse and children or foreign nationals staying in France on assignment on behalf of their home country.
  • Foreign healthcare workers to help fight against COVID‑19 or recruited as interns to assist.
  • Foreign flight and cargo personnel as part of a crew or travelling as passenger to their departure base.
  • Foreign nationals responsible for the international carriage of goods.
  • Drivers or crew members of a passenger train or bus.
  • Crew members or personnel working on a merchant or fishing ship.
  • Students with long term visas (VLS), short term visa (VCS) to study or do an internship (“Examination/test” short stay visa not included), or coming for less than 90 days from a country exempted from VCS, or minors attending school and holding a proof of residence in France.
  • Teachers or researchers employed or invited by a French educational institution or research lab, travelling for teaching or research purposes.
  • Third Country nationals with a long stay talent visa “passeport talent” or intra corporate transfer visa, travelling with their spouse and children.
  • Foreign nationals coming to France for medical care in a public or private hospital.

 

Required forms:

All passengers travelling to mainland France must complete the locator form and the Exempted Movement certificate.

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO TURKEY

Please note that in accordance with the guide published by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, certain flight restrictions apply for arrivals to Turkey. Passengers are required to obey the conditions below for a healthy and safe flight.

  • As of January 26, 2021, passengers arriving in Turkey are required to submit a negative PCR test (nucleic acid). The sample for the test must have been taken within 72 hours prior to the passenger’s scheduled departure from the country of origin. This applies to all passengers aged 6 years. All passengers are required to wear masks at the airport and during the flights.
  • All passengers must complete the passenger information form when arriving to Turkey.
  • All passengers and airline crew will undergo a medical examination and those showing symptoms will have tests performed.

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO THE UNITED KINGDOM

As of Friday, January 15 (04:00 GMT), COVID 19 test will be mandatory for passengers traveling to the United Kingdom (LHR, LGW, STN, MAN, BHX, EDI) and passengers are required to submit a negative PCR test document taken up to 3 days (72 hours) before departure for the entry into UK. The certificate can be submitted in hard copy or digitally. If this condition is not met, penalties will be imposed on the passenger (£ 500) and our Company. Passengers under the age of 11 are exempt from the application. In addition, the Online Locator Form filling application, which we previously announced, continues.

Accordingly, the following conditions must be met for passengers traveling to the UK to be accepted to our flights:

 

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO NETHERLANDS

The Dutch government announced further measures* to minimize the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible. There is a flight ban to and from the United Kingdom, and from South Africa and South America.


For all passengers traveling to or via Amsterdam on KLM, a negative PCR or LAMP test, not older than 72 hours, is mandatory. As of January 23, 2021, customers traveling from a high-risk country, a negative rapid antigen test is also required in addition to the PCR or LAMP test. The rapid antigen test needs to be taken within 4 hours before departure. 

Starting 26th January 2021, KLM passengers departing from Lagos can obtain a rapid antigen tests at Murtala Mohammed International Airport before departure. It is preferred that customers make a booking and pay in advance to streamline the process. Otherwise, there is an option at the airport and pay with your POS card. The price of the Negative Rapid Antigen Test is about N28,000. Booking for the test must be done before coming to the airport.

Steps to obtain the rapid tests are:

FOR PASSENGERS FLYING TO FRANCE

As of January 24, 2021, customers traveling to France via Air France need to show a negative COVID-19 test result before boarding the aircraft. The test result cannot be older than 72 hours before departure. 

Depending on where the customer is traveling from, including the French overseas territories, they may need to provide travel certificates and go into self-quarantine for seven days with a second PCR test at the end of this period.
